Ann Evanilla-Wasson
Director of School Health, Sequoia Healthcare District
Ann Evanilla-Wasson is currently the Director of School Health for the Sequoia Healthcare District, where she provides vision and leadership for the Healthy Schools Initiative, an effort that supports eight school districts in the southern, inland region of San Mateo County. She has more than 25 years of experience in program and fund development, advocacy and community engagement in Los Angeles, Monterey and San Mateo Counties.
Previous roles include Director of Community Engagement for the Peninsula Health Care District, Director of Fiscal Sponsorship Programs and Grants Administration for the Action Council of Monterey County, Director at the Violence Intervention Program, LAC+USC Medical Center, Public Affairs Officer for the LA County Medical Association, and Founder/Director of “Blue Crew,” a service-learning program to address climate change through youth voice and leadership.
Ann has made civic engagement and service to her community a priority. She currently serves on the steering committee of United for Youth, as an advisor to The Parent Venture and holds board positions with Community Builders, and Salinas Living Poetry and Prose. Ann also served on the Boards of Young & Healthy, Action Council, UCSF’s Long-Covid (RECOVER) Cabinet, River Elementary School Site Council, National Charity League, St Monica Pastoral Council and in executive leadership positions for Women in Public Affairs, Inter-Agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect, Junior League of Pasadena, Monterey Bay Christ Child Society, and Carmel Unified School District SEL Council.
Ann holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology / Industrial Organizational Psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from California State University, Los Angeles, graduating Magna cum laude both times while swimming for the NCAA Division II Intercollegiate Swim Team. She also holds a Service-Learning Certification from the California Department of Education.
